Administrators appointed in July, 2009
On July 7, 2009, AFT President Randi Weingarten issued a protective order to safeguard and preserve Local 5017. She immediately appointed prominent labor lawyer Mark Richard along with AFT Healthcare Organizing Director Gary Stevenson to coordinate the union. Administrators are assisted and closely advised by OFNHP members through the Administrators’ Advisory Action Council (AAAC).
OFNHP Administratorship Investigation Report
AFT Ruling Issued...Violations by OFNHP Leaders Proven at Hearing. The AFT Executive Council today affirmed the report of the union's investigation committee. The investigators held a hearing in Portland July 28. During the hearing, the committee took testimony from witnesses and OFNHP members and later extensively analyzed documents, and weighed the entire record.
The hearing panel found that certain OFNHP leaders did in fact commit violations of both the local and national union constitutions. The decision upholds the AFT administratorship and AFT's issuance of a protective order in July.
